All activities below are included with your registration unless noted otherwise (athletic events, Blair performances). We hope you will make sure to join us at our Signature Events. These are events that we encourage all Family Weekend participants to attend.

Signature Events

Friday, September 19

  • 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Check-In and Registration

    Location:

    Make Carmichael College your first stop! Nametags, schedule, and more will be available. Make sure to have your confirmation email ready or your confirmation QR codes saved.Ìý

    Note: Nametags are required for entry into all Family Weekend events. Students must be registered for the weekend.

  • 11 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. Study Abroad Information Session

    ³¢´Ç³¦²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô:Ìý

    Studying abroad is a wonderful opportunity for Vanderbilt students to expand their horizons, develop intercultural skills, and grow career-ready competencies. Attend this info session to learn more about studying abroad, including information about how Vanderbilt supports students, funding, and timelines, and how students can maximize the value of their time abroad.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Library Resources for Students Presentation

    Location:

    In addition to the thousands of electronically available books and journals, Vanderbilt librarians teach students a range of skills from critical thinking to how to create an engaging presentation. In this session, you will learn about the latest services and resources available from the. We'll share strategies for ensuring your students' academic success as well as provide tips for getting the most out of the libraries' spaces, people and collections.Ìý

  • 1 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. Anchor Down with HOD

    ³¢´Ç³¦²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô:Ìý

    Are you curious about the academic HOD undergraduate and capstone experience? Please join us for a brief presentation and Q&A with student panelists. You will hear about the broad range of coursework and capstone options.

  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Signature Event: Alumni Parent Pick-Me-Up

    Reconnect, Reminisce, and Recharge!

    Join fellow Vanderbilt alumni parents for a fun and casual meet-up. Share your favorite Vandy memories, swap stories, and enjoy a little afternoon pick-me-up while catching up with old friends and making new ones!

  • 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Signature Event: University Update

    Join us for an exclusive opportunity to hear directly from key university leaders as they share exciting updates and insights into Vanderbilt’s vision, priorities, and what’s ahead for our community.

  • 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Signature Event: Grandparents' Social and Tea

    ³¢´Ç³¦²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô:Ìý

    Meet and greet other grandparents while enjoying afternoon tea. Be sure to pick up your special gift for attending this event.Ìý

  • 4:30 p.m. Hillel Shabbat Open House Reception

    Location:

    Join Hillel for an open house reception in celebration of Shabbat. Services begin at 5:30 p.m. and are followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

  • 7:30 p.m. Blair Presents: An Evening with Lucía

    ³¢´Ç³¦²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô:Ìý

    Lucía,Ìýone of the most exciting young voices in contemporary jazz, makes herÌýmuch-anticipatedÌýNashville debut on Friday, September 18ÌýinÌýIngram Hall. At just 24, the acclaimed Mexican vocalist has captivated audiences worldwide with her extraordinary blend of jazz, Latin, and pop influences, earningÌýglobalÌýrecognition as the first Mexican artist to win the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition.     Location:

    Come and have fun with us at the biggest event of the weekend! There will be food, games and more. Enjoy connecting with other Commodore families as you prepare to cheer on the Dores!

    Paper Backs: Hidden Stories of European Prints from the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Museum of Art

    Many physical traces are left on prints as they travel across time and space. How were interventions such as stamped collectors’ marks, offhand doodles, and improvised matting used to reflect and refine collectors’ identities and, in the case of artist-collectors, to inform creative practices?ÌýPaper Backs: Hidden Stories of European Prints from ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ÌýMuseumÌýof Art CollectionÌýexplores these questions by focusing on both the fronts and backs of prints, revealing aspects of works on paper rarely seen byÌýmuseumgoers.

  • Jean and Alexander Hear Central Library Special Exhibitions

    "Alive with Pride: LGBTQ Existence and Resistance in Middle Tennessee"

    Location:

    Alive with PrideÌýaims to provide valuable historical context for the experiences of LGBTQ individuals in Nashville and the surrounding community. The exhibit includes rare publications, such as grassroots newsletters, newspapers and magazines, that were pivotal to the development of political and social networks from the 1970s through the 1990s. Writings, recordings, artwork and memorabilia from groundbreaking performers who left a lasting impact on entertainment and popular culture are featured. Photographs, documents and other artifacts that chronicle LGBTQ life as well as efforts to organize, foster support and build community are part of the exhibit, as are landmark moments of political advocacy such as Pride celebrations and the community’s response to the AIDS crisis.Ìý
